In 2018, the predecessor of EANASE, which was the Japanese Network for the Academic Study of Esotericism (JNASE), published the first (and only) volume of its own journal with two fascinating articles that remain accessible below.

Submission Guidelines

1.About the journal

Online journal published by the Japanese Network for the Academic Study of Esotericism and used as a platform to disseminate the research outcomes of JNASE members or of researchers sharing JNASE’s objectives. Prospective authors are reminded that the journal targets an international audience who may or may not be familiar with the Japanese context.

2. Platform

The journal is hosted on our WordPress website. All submissions should be sent to jnase2016@gmail.com

Articles will be uploaded online (in PDF format) as soon as they are accepted, and they will also be put together into one yearly single volume to be published online in March.

3. Manuscript format

All manuscripts need to follow the Chicago Manual of Style and be sent to the above email address in a Microsoft Word file. All manuscripts should be submitted in English.

Four types of manuscripts are accepted: Research Articles (between 6,000 and 10,000 words), Research reports (of maximum 10,000 words), Translations (of, for example, primary sources such as letters or journals, or important academic articles). and Book Reviews (of maximum 2,000 words). For the length of translations, please contact us in advance with detailed information on the original document to be translated into English.

Research articles and research reports need to include an abstract of up to 300 words and up to five keywords. Translations may be preceded by a lengthier (up to 2,000 words) introduction to the materials translated.

4. Submission process

Please contact us (jnase2016@gmail.com) in advance if you plan to submit a manuscript by stating the prospective title, content and day of submission. Only research articles are peer-reviewed. In case you wish your article to be reviewed, please notify us in advance and note that the review process may take up to 3 months.
